Plumrose Notes ♫: July 2025

How is it that we’ve already made it to the second half of 2025? Let’s jump just as quickly into this month’s Plumrose Notes!

Masterclass in Nocturnes with
Ichko Batnasan

At the end of June, our very own Ichko Batnasan hosted a piano Masterclass at our Parkside location. Both students were working on forms of Nocturnes (one more contemporary, while the other romantic), so it was fascinating to see the advice she had for each student.

Ichko guided students through considerations in appropriate usage of dynamics, voicing, and technique in their prepared pieces, and introduced aspects of musical history and form to enhance interpretation. Listening to the difference between the students playing before the class began, and then while implementing Ichko’s advice was absolutely amazing!

Amelia S. Performs at
2025 MTAC State Convention

Earlier this month, our student Amelia S. (student of Susie Fong) was recognized for demonstrating exceptional skill in all areas of her Certificate of Merit Evaluation by performing live at the 2025 MTAC State Convention in Santa Clara.

Students who receive top ratings and have been selected by the Evaluator during the CM Evaluation each year are invited to participate in the Convention Recitals, which take place at MTAC’s Annual Convention.

This year Amelia performed Jennifer Linn’s “Midnight Prayer” at the Theme Recital. Congratulations to both student and teacher for their hard work and dedication!

A Special Offer from Steinway!

Our friends at Steinway have a very special offer for the Plumrose Piano Studio family just for the month of July:

0% Interest Financing
Steinway is offering interest-free financing on any new Steinway, Boston, or Essex for 18 months now through the end of July.  If you or your student are ready to upgrade to an acoustic, but not ready to drop thousands of dollars all at once, this is a great time to get one just in time for the next school year!  Usually, interest rates for piano financing are closer to 7-9% APR, so 0% APR is a huge deal – we usually only offer this once per year max, so if any of you have been waiting for a good financing offer, this is it!

Roland Digitals
For students who are looking to upgrade from an electronic keyboard to a digital piano, Steinway is now carrying Roland digitals in their stores! They’ve just recently got their first shipment of models ranging in price from around $2-6k and are some of the best options on the market.

To find out more about these special offers, please feel free to contact Steinway San Francisco's Showroom Manager, Danielle Pfeiffer at dpfeiffer@steinway.com.
